Daughter of the most powerful Fae, Queen Aine, Mei NiaAine has survived one thousand years in the dark prison of
Carthau where she was violated and tortured.  Mei survived because of her husband Card, who is part demon and part
werewolf.
Mei and her first husband, Jayce MacTavish faught to save the queendom of Tir na nOg where Aine rules.  Jayce was
supposedly killed during that war, and no one realizes that Mei is alive.  Since then Mei has been trained to be Warrior
For the Balance taking her assignments from The Donovan, a God who keeps the evil paranormal creatures from ruling
the world.

Finally free of Carthau and being reunited with her Mother Mei learns that the treachery of her Aunt Eire was to blame
for her imprisonment.  Eire aligns herself with the Dark Fae and they attempt to take over Earth and other realms.  As
Mei is returned to her rightful place next to Queen Aine, she discovers that Jayce is still alive.  Mei must come to terms
with being married to not one, but two powerful men.  Card is also a Warrior For the Balance and he, Jayce and Mei will
fight to keep the evil from taking over.  The three of them will be formidable and deal with the threat from the Dark Fae
and what ever else comes through the folds in time.

Threat of Darkness is an intense and compelling story of the complex, intertwined lives of the characters.  I had to
concentrate in order to keep the characters straight, but it is definitely an intriguing story that's full of adventure.  I
enjoyed this book very much and was amazed to see how strong Mei was and that she didn't let the worst that could
happen destroy her.  Despite suffering such torture and pain she was able to come to love both the men in her life.

I enjoyed the way that the Fae were sexually free spirits able to accept non-traditional living with the three of them
becoming a family.  It was also incredibly hot reading about the ways the men made love to Mei, taking her on sexual
journeys to reinforce their love for her.

This is a traditional story of good versus evil, with the war raging and the three warriors fighting to save all the realms in
the world from falling under the rule of the Dark Fae.  So if you are looking for a book that has heart, fight and lots of
loving as well,
Threat of Darkness has it all.  You'll not be disappointed as Lauren Dane writes another amazing story.

Mei NiaAine was a fighter in both a mental and physical capacity.  For one thousand years she endured endless torment
and rape in a demon prison that was located on the outer circle of hell.  With the help of Card Leviathan, part
werewolf/part demon and who later became her husband; Mei was able to escape the evil, dark prison.  Eager to go back
home to her family, Mei returned to Tir na nOg only to be crush once more when she was exile without any explanation.
Nevertheless, once again Mei survived her ordeal because of the love from Card and her position as a Warrior For the
Balance - a balance between good and evil.  Although, it had been very difficult because of the nightmares from her
imprisonment over the next two thousand years Mei managed to build a happy life with Card.  All was well until Mei’s
latest assignment forced her to return to Tir na nOg.  But, to Mei’s surprise not only was Jayce MacTavish, her first
husband, was still alive; but, her mother, the Queen of Fae, had not enforce banishment on her – it had all been a lie.
Confused, Mei didn’t know which way to turn.  She was now married to two different men whom she cared for deeply and
if that wasn’t enough to deal with the Dark Fae threatens to destroy humankind and to unleash evil to every known realm.

Threat of Darkness is a stand-alone novel that was written in the Witches Knot universe.  It is not a part of the series;
however, some key
Witches Knot characters play an important part in this story.  With that said, I would suggest picking
up each book in this series for further enjoyment.
Threat of Darkness was a super-intense, compelling story that
brought forth a multitude of emotions from me that included sadness, anger, joy and lust.  Mei was a very strong-willed
character.  For three millennia she suffered greatly; yet, she never gave up on life nor allowed her past to destroy her.
From her first introduction, I liked her and as the story continued to unfold my respect for her grew.  The love that she
had for the two men in her life was equal, but different in a unique special way.  And, when the three united as one to
create a tri-bond it was a phenomenal event.  There sexual escapades whether as a twosome or threesome were wickedly
passionate and down right naughty sometimes.  I simply could not get enough of their spicy hot love scenes.  All in all,
Threat of Darkness has a powerful plot filled with many twists and unanticipated turns that peeked my interest
significantly until the bitter end.
