Singer, Selby Maison, is recovering from a partial hysterectomy and trying to jumpstart her lagging career but the
creative juices are not flowing.  Selby is spiraling into a deep depression.  She feels useless and unwanted, hating
her overweight body.  Selby is in great need of a major confidence boost.

Darius Andros is a Satyr who has been looking for a mate for hundreds of years.  He has had difficulty finding a
mate because she must be a descendant of a Nymph.  During his attendance of one of Selby’s concerts, he
developed a strong bond with her and uses this bond to visit her in her dreams.  These erotic escapades keep both
of them wanting more, but Selby believes it is only a dream.  Sensing Selby’s depressive mood, Darius begins the
process of claiming her as his mate and making her immortal.

A Satyr’s Tale: Selby and Darius by Shiree McCarver is a fun, quick read.  I have always been fascinated
with the satyr-- half-man half-beast and the description in the story was wonderful.  Ms. McCarver’s skilled writing
made these characters really come to life.  Selby is a middle aged African American woman trying to cope with her
changing world.  The end of her marriage, her partial hysterectomy, and her fading music career are all issues pressing
on her mind.  Darius is a lonely male hero wanting it all… immorality and a family with his mate.    He only has to
convince Selby she is the woman for him.

Ms. McCarver’s wonderful imagination created beautifully erotic love scenes.  The sexually charged interactions
between Selby and Darius keep the reader waiting for more.  There are some non-traditional sex scenes in the
story including female/female and male/male.

A Satyr's Tale was an interesting read and I want to see what Ms. McCarver will do next.
