Deputy Sheriff Rich Taylor is firmly closeted; it’s the only way a gay man can live and work in his home town.  Traveling
out of town, along with his friend Jeremy, to have sex is the only way Rich is ever going to score; not even his best friend
knows he’s gay, a good thing considering that Dan is the object of Rich’s desire.  When Dan is injured in a car wreck right
in front of Rich’s eyes he comes face to face with the fact that years of lust have grown into a deep and abiding love. Is
Rich willing to risk his friendship to gain the love of his life?

State Trooper Dan Fletcher is practically handicapped when he injures his right hand.  Having his best friend around to
help out seems like a great plan, even if Dan has been harboring some disturbing dreams about Rich.  Having Rich help
with his more intimate needs doesn’t help the confusion Dan is feeling, how can he possibly be lusting after Rich when he
has dedicated his life in search of Mrs. Right?

Starting with a bang that will put your heart into your throat
A Helping Hand is a vivid exploration of gay life in small
town America.  Dan is really confused which makes your feelings towards him alter quite rapidly oscillating between really
liking him to wanting to shake him like a rag doll.  Rich knows what he wants and sets out to get it, his willingness to
compromise and deal with rejection make him really easy to empathize with.  Encounters between Rich and Dan are all
about the emotions of exploration, nerves and newfound lust, kind of like when you were in high school; the sex is pretty
steamy too.   I really enjoyed the feel of
A Helping Hand the character turmoil and confusion aside this is a story
about two really good friends who are always there for each other who just happen to fall in love.

I really hope Rich’s friend Jeremy gets his own story in the future the way things ended for him made me sad.  After such

a fantastic story I can’t wait to see what Ms. Kersten comes up with next
