Wade Peterson is in love, so much so that he actually proposed to the woman of his desires which was a shock in itself;
more shocking however is having the object of his desire say no.  Wade isn’t ready to give up on Jessica, after a break to
recoup and lick his wounds Wade returns determined to win Jessica’s heart.  Except Jessica seems more determined than
ever to push Wade away, holding his best friend and her long time lover Clancy between them.  Not that Clancy hasn’t
proven his willingness to share Jess with Wade, but Wade is sick of sharing.  Will Wade be able to understand Jessica’s
need for independence or will his desire to protect her simply drive her farther away.

Jessica’s mental state is the result of years of abuse and neglect during childhood.  Only one man has never betrayed her
and as such he has become her safety net.  Jess does feel something for Wade, but the fear is stronger than her
affection; until her father shows up with a surprise in store for Jessica that threatens to crumble the ground under her
feet.  Will Jessica allow Wade to help her or will her father’s reappearance manage to destroy her life?

The hard core issues of child abuse and abandonment in
Bound by the Past will wrench your heart and inspire some
serious protective feelings towards Jessica and Clancy.  Jessica is a strong independent woman who lives in a constant
state of denial; your heart will go out to her as she struggles to pull her life together after the atrocities her fathers’
abandonment and her mothers’ neglect caused.  Wade sounds like he used to be a bit of an ass but throughout
Bound
by the Past
he is sweet, loving and considerate of Jessica’s feeling for the most part.  His willingness to go to whatever
lengths Jess needs to recover makes him a highly loveable hero.  The heat between Jess and Wade is intense and while
on a few occasions they are joined by Clancy he’s more a man prop than a loving member of a trio.  Beware!
Bound by
the Past
is sure to leave you an emotional wreck in a sea of tissues and is definitely a good way to spend an afternoon.
While
Bound by the Past is a sequel it can be read as a stand alone book.  I hope that the next book in the series will
find Clancy a good person to love and help him heal.
