Karina is banished to the world of Merope for a year after attempting to murder her twin sister, mate to Mace, the King
of the Tyr-LaRoche, Karina’s ex lover. While in the care of King Dominic, Karina is meant to learn submission, for
Merope hold the peace with sex. Observing luscious banquets where females are served up as plates and eaten as
desert, Karina feels desire but only for the man she believes can help her get revenge against her ex and allow her to
retake her place in Tyr-LaRoche society.
King Dominic has worked long and hard to make himself powerful enough to get vengeance on the Ruler of Tyr-
LaRoche after Mace stole the woman he loved. Having Mace’s ex-lover exiled and put under his care is the perfect
opportunity to get someone close to Mace on his side. One look at Karina and Dominique knows it isn’t going to be
easy to keep his focus on vengeance if he distracts himself with Karina’s lush body. Will vengeance take precedence or
will Karina and Dominique give up their hate in order to take a chance on love?
Unexpected is the best word I can come up with to describe Birds of a Feather. I’ve known for quite some time that
this book was coming out but I somehow expected that Karina would redeem herself, not that she’d find someone just as
mentally damaged as she was. The only way they could make Karina likeable is to vilify the heroes from previous books in
the Dragon Laws series which I didn’t like. There is plenty of sex but it doesn’t have the emotional connection I prefer, it
was just sex; even after Karina and Dominique admitted feelings towards each other. Reading Birds of a Feather gives
the perception that Ms. Sparks doesn’t particularly care what happens to Karina but wrote the story by popular
demand. Birds of a Feather should not be read as a stand alone as there are deeper plots that you will not get
without having read the full Dragon’s Law series. With an exciting cast of secondary characters and only the vilification
of previous heroes to distract from the plot I’m willing to give this series another chance if Ms. Sparks decides to revisit it.
